Race Report: Whole Foods Tiburon Half Marathon
After what has been a summer full of high mileage weeks, plenty or hills, intervals, and even more rolling – my first race of the season is now complete.
I was supposed to be running the Atjan Wild Island Half Mountain Marathon in the Faroe Islands a month ago but unfortunately due to poor organization and scheduling, I was unable to. Probably for the best anyways given that I’ve been battling glute and hamstring pain for the past two months.
Thankfully the recovery time and management of my running schedule made for a decent show at this race. Even with having to make a mid-race pit stop, I ended up finishing 29th overall and 6th in my age group. Not too shabby at all.
The Whole Foods Tiburon Half was a flat 3 miles on the front and end with a mild amount of hills in the middle winding up to the base of Mt. Tam. With decent mid-course elevation gain and perfect views of the bay, I’d highly recommend.
There’s a few more challenging Bay Area races I’ll be running in this season so be on the lookout for those race reports soon!
